Our Work

Projects

Over the years, the Florence S. Bush Angel Foundation has sponsored numerous charitable fundraisers including holiday gifts, Alzheimer's fundraisers, casino bus trips, crab feasts and Edward E Stokes, Jr. Memorial Scholarship Luncheons. We also hold standing events every year.

Holiday Gifts

Beginning in 2000, the Florence S. Bush Angel Foundation distributed ten food baskets to deserving families for Thanksgiving and Christmas. That same year the foundation made monetary contributions to the Oblate Sisters of Providence and adopted a family for Christmas.

In the following years, the Foundation efforts grew increasing the number of food baskets and gift cards distributed at Thanksgiving, including through a partnership with the Clergy United for the Transformation of Sandtown (CUTS). The foundation also provided Christmas Turkeys to the Carrie House and every year since 2000 adopted the nuns at the Oblate Sisters of Providence for the Christmas holiday.

In 2010, the Foundation awarded its first Edward Ellsworth Stokes, Jr. Memorial Scholarships and has continued to award scholarships over the years.  We also partnered with the Morgan State University Alumni Association to award a Martin Luther King, Jr. scholarship in memory of Edward E. Stokes, Sr., who was the Foundation’s President from 2008 to 2016 when he passed away.

In support of continuing work in the Baltimore community, the Florence S. Bush Angel Foundation has partnered with the Howard L. Cornish Metropolitan Baltimore Alumni Chapter of the Morgan State University Alumni Association to award scholarships at the Dr. Martin Luther King , Jr. Scholarship Breakfast. Since 2016, FSBAF has awarded over $15,000 to current students at Morgan State University.

Thanksgiving Dinner

Every year since its founding, the Florence S. Bush Angel Foundation has sponsored families during the Holiday Season. This past Thanksgiving, the FSBAF donated over $1,000 worth of food to the Clergy United for Transformation of Sandtown (C.U.T.S) to distribute to families.

Mary Jenifer

""Eleven children she bore and raised this special lady deserves sincere praise"

The Florence S. Bush Angel Foundation and Jenifer Family in honor of Mary Jenifer are leading the way to Alzheimer's first survivor by participating in the Alzheimer's Association Walk.

She was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s disease when she was 65. It took some time before we understood the signs. She repeated questions and was unable to recall facts. She would get lost but through the kindness of strangers arrive home safely. Eventually, she was unable to recognize family members or speak. She lived with the disease for more than 20 years.

Our future is at risk unless we can find a way to change the course of this disease. Together, we can end Alzheimer's. Please donate to advance the care, support, and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association.

The Walk to End Alzheimer's is happening virtually this year. Join the FSBAF Virtual Team in memory of Mary Jenifer or donate.

Thank you for joining the fight against Alzheimer's.
